Yes, I agree that joy can be experienced in unpleasant situations. Recently, at the dentist, I practiced Tonglen, taking on the suffering others while the dentist was drilling! It's very uplifting to recognize true joy! ππ
I might have had a glimpse of this as a young boy when after five minutes playing with the toys I was given for my birthday, I realized they didnβt bring me real joy. I wasnβt just spoiled or bored, this realization hit me on a deep level and stayed with me onwards.
