Attracted to nothing
When someone is ready to be very simple, that's when this recognition can start to happen. And the more pure being is recognized, the more attractive it becomes. There’s increasing aversion to go back into the mind and suffer.
But for many, it doesn’t feel attractive at first. We start having this recognition of pure being, and for a long time it feels boring, like nothing is happening. This can’t be it!
Then it's helpful to understand that what the mind believes it’s going to find is not what is found.
The mind tries to match its idea of awakening or enlightenment onto the non-experience of pure being, and it feels like nothing at all.
It's important to point out how valuable this is, or it will be overlooked. Even though it doesn't seem exciting or spiritual, this non-experience excludes any possibility of suffering!
All we can do is try to impart something that can hopefully be recognized. Then if the wish is to abide as that more and more, it will happen.
If there are still lots of doubts, that will happen also. Over time, that settles because the one that has the doubt dissolves.
At some point, there’s a clear, simple knowing that, yes, it's this.
Yes, it’s this simple.
And this doubtless “Yes” flips the switch.
