Seeing does all the work
The body was born without worry.
Life lived the human.
Slowly but surely it was made clear that this wouldn’t do at all.
Life would go horribly wrong if left to run itself. “You” had a crucial job to do. There were endless things to learn to worry about and try to control.
This was internalized as the unquestioned truth. Soon, external authority was no longer needed. Even on the most remote retreat, all of that conditioning was still right there.
One day, it’s heard that this “you,” supposedly inside the body, essential to the task of managing life, is false.
It rings a distant bell.
There’s a vague memory of how effortlessly life moved before the claim that it required management.
But the now rock-solid belief in a me means that the idea that there is no one can only be heard as the next me-project: I will be able to better run my life if I see there’s no one.
Thoughts try to compute this and fail.
Thinking refines the concepts into ever-more-subtle concepts.
One day, the whole thing is simply seen to be false.
“Me” as the unquestioned truth ends, and inquiry can begin.
For the first time, there can be clear seeing.
It’s this seeing that “does all the work.”
Not you.

The body was born without worry.
Life lived the human.
It’s this seeing that “does all the work.”
Not you.
Yes. That no-one is running the show invokes a sense of relief. But for who - hah! The childhood memory; that life is playing out like the wind. Funny how natural responses to life are assumed to be choices; as if the tree chooses to bend to the wind. 😲
Thank you Kat!
Can we say, knowing keeps seeking but seeing the knowing stops the seeking
