Does telling a story about a self make that self real?
If I tell a story about Harry Potter (7 books!) does that make him real?
Are you real because you tell a story about yourself and then believe it? We're not referring to the apparent body, only to the story.
Look at your complete self-narrative, the story of me. Take your complete past, all your memories, everything you ever experienced. This is your identity.
It is a fabrication. It is not YOU, it is a story about you.
See this.
Belief in this story creates a prison of identity.
Your story is a made-up world of beliefs. If you see it’s not real and no longer believe it, it can’t cause suffering.
YOU (Awareness) has no story.
YOU (Aliveness) is free.
