You will not find freedom by getting an answer to your questions.
Again and again we try to make sense of things through thinking.
And that includes the body writing this! It has the interests of a philosopher. It loves to play around with concepts — especially those that could possibly help the world.
But it always comes down to this:
Do you want to “get it” or do you want to be free?
“Getting” is an appropriate verb because it seems like we could perhaps own it, mentally. And owning it would seem to solve our problems.
But who is going to get it?
Ah, there’s the rub …
It is always more thinking, not insight.
More and more concepts about concepts.
There is no freedom in concepts!
Freedom lies beyond and before the conceptual.
You have to discover this for yourself.
It took me more than a decade to give up on approaching this through thinking. And I still enjoy trying to understand and explain. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s the way we’re wired.
However … there is only one question that leads to a lasting, satisfying answer to any question we can ask about this:
What is aware?
Lasting freedom is only found by realizing the self-less YOU this question points to.
🔔 Ownership has always felt like an agreement. Inspiration is not something you own either.
So many of us were so completely mind-identified that we couldn't see/perceive there was even anything beyond or before the conceptual! At the start, the thinking is what led to asking questions to understand more deeply what Eckart was talking about in Power of Now. I attended many non-dual meetings and had many questions answered to satisfy my understanding. But it wasn't until I began to ask the question "What is it exactly that I imagine myself to be a me?" and I felt into the dense sensations (anger, sadness, resistance) of the body ("this sensation, here, in this location. This is me." was always the answer) over and over again that something dawned that was NOT conceptual.
