A woman is sitting on a rock in the desert by the side of the only road.
The road is packed with people as far as the eye can see.
Some go slowly, laden with possessions. Others have nothing but their clothes.
Some are alone; most travel in small groups.
All of them are on their way to the oasis.
She's holding up a sign that reads:
There is no oasis. What you’re looking for is HERE.
No one pays attention.
Occasionally, someone does stop to ask about the sign.
She says: “What you believe, is a lie. You’re moving away from what you’re looking for.”
She was on the road for many years and believed in this oasis too.
She had also been taught that when it’s finally reached the long journey will have been worthwhile.
However, she'd come to know beyond all doubt that there is no oasis.
What we’re searching for is already right here if we would only stop to look.
We’re wasting our lives following this lie, forever trying to reach a mirage.
But all she can do is sit by the road and hold up the sign.
A steadfast sign holder she is… often dismissed, seldomly brave and in all unequivocally strange to those who deem to know & at home with those who stopped from knowing but that which is known.
We are the sign we have all been looking for.
But you are an exceptional sign-holder, Kat.
