There’s no practice that will produce awakening.
But there can be wordless “noticings” that — if they happen — remind us we’re already awake.
These seven moments seem to work well:
Upon waking
What is it that wakes up?
Self
When there are difficult thoughts about a self — Where is this self the thoughts refer to?
Other
When there are difficult thoughts about another — What is having the thoughts?
Body
When there is physical discomfort — What is having the discomfort?
Past/future
When there’s ruminating about the past or worry about the future — Where is this past or future?
Walking
When walking outside, spend a few minutes naming objects (tree, flower, rock, lamp) — Is there a separate object out there?
Falling asleep
What will fall asleep?
Don’t try to answer but allow the question to “turn attention around” and taste the real YOU — what is already present and aware.
The questions point away from content to what’s already there before content appears and remains after it’s gone.
We can’t be any of the content because it comes and goes.
When we see that we’re none of what we thought we were, we see that we’re ALL of it.
There is no separation between any of it.
It is all YOU.
Gotta say, these cat pictures on each of your posts are top notch. As are the noticings.
Thanks for sharing.
To reciprocate, here are my spiriutal 10 commandments:
Here and now, something truly wonderful is taking shape. Give It all the room It needs to blossom.
Recognize you yourself as a Divine vessel being prepared for ever more transformations and discoveries.
Appreciate with ever growing certainty that your core identity, I AM, is simultaneously the very-same-You-Are of eternity.
Align with the Divine. Know that you are intimately touching the very Source of your self at any and at all times.
Reach out to your Source in love, and melt within the Love that constantly pours back to embrace you.
Look around. Be ever mindful of Divine Presence. You are choosing connection over isolation, unity over chaos.
Witness Divine Presence, in delight, as It works Its magic in space and time through perfect harmonies and synchronicities.
Embrace Divine Presence and return to It again and again and again, until It becomes your natural state of being.
Listen for an inner calling. Accept the invitation to co-create as Divine Presence.
Allow the best of you to help keep enlightenment in motion. Step forward humbly with Divine intention to change worlds for the benefit of all.
