Isn't it ALL illusion? Why stop at self? I AM is also an illuson when you "faith" beyond it. Perhaps a better term than illusion is creation. The self is a creation. The Self is a creation. I AM is a creation. What is not creation? Maybe that from which Creation continues to emerge? Yes, it is all ultimately and always spiriutality.

Overcomplicated is one of my favorite ironic words. As if complication wasn't enough.
I interpret Anatta as the no-views of self. An illusory self is incapable of negating an illusory self.
When I can see the self for what it is, I go and read your books again.
People really do make this overly complicated 🤣🤷🏻♀️
Thanks for this succinct reminder today- I'll share this little nugget in my newsletter round up on Sunday
"There’s nothing especially spiritual about this (apart from the fact that everything is spiritual)." —wonderfully put
I am currently reading your books, Marcel. I don't read any nonduality anymore so that is saying something!
Thank you so much!
There’s a lot of work done by ‘apart from’ in this thought 😊
☺️
Words are limiting.
"Making it about spirituality overcomplicates how simple this is!" - love these words!
“The self is an illusion.
An instance of misinterpreted perception of sensory experience.
A self is not really there.
It’s the belief that the self is real that causes the suffering.
The good news about an illusion is that it is dispelled by SEEING it for what it is.”

“It is a phantom self.” ET
👻
Phantom self makes it sound like there is a real or true self in hiding somewhere.
