The spiritual ego’s attachment to self is an obstacle indeed! Perhaps a lack of attachment to any outcome, while acting only in this moment with focused presence, creates a possibility of relinquishing any self-connection.
As I edit and rewrite this, entirely un-attached to how it might be received and perceived! :)
'I' might be wrong, but so far to me, there does seem to be a difference between both the illusions of ego and the separate self as function(ing) and as identities.
Marius here at SubStack has a good little article called "When Selfing Is No Longer A Problem" you might like.
Yes - no stopping the selfing…it is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. Holding the paradox is tricky: separate selfing that is within the one…a multitude of choices with no chooser!
Beautifully expressed

So let’s enjoy our selfing from a self-less place!
Divisive selfing, or unitive Selfing- which is preferable, which is default? Why do so many prefer the latter?
Such a relief, for no one!
So incredibly complicated, yet so purely simple at the same time.
Now.
When we’ve left the body for good we’ve cracked it. Until then we’re still somewhat confused 🕊️🤪
Subtly profound!
Is the cat selfing? Isn’t it amusing we give it a name? 😼🤔
Good reflection Kat 🙏
“If we believe we’ve overcome selfing itself …
we’ve fallen straight into the arms of the spiritual ego.”
The deadly sovereignty of certainty.
